Stability orthopaedic footwear is specially made to provide extra support for children’s or young adults feet that suffer from weakness and/or instability around the feet and ankles, have lower limb ligament problems, or those with deterioration of the ankle joint or partial paralysis of the ankle region. Further stability is available for those who have limited dorsi-flexion (those who have difficulties managing the upwards movement of the foot at the ankle joint); neurological conditions where an orthosis is worn; feet with significant varus or valgus position.
Our Orthotists will need to carry out an assessment to determine which type of footwear is the most suitable for your needs by following 5 simple steps to prescribing the correct footwear:
Step 1. Choose the Last; Rehabilitation – Over Splint – Anti-Varus – Modular – Bespoke
Step 2. Choose the Upper Style; Low – Standard – High – European (Extra High)
Step 3. Choose the Heel Stiffener; Low – Medium – High
Step 4. Choose the Shank; Mid foot – Full sole – Full length
Step 5. Choose the Sole Unit; Traction – Commando – Sneaker – Wedge
All the footwear shown in the pictures are of standard construction, made in Britain and can be modified to suit each individual prescription.
